Chandrasekhar Sankurathri – One man’s fight against Blindness!
In a single, tragic day, Dr. Chandrasekhar Sankurathri lost everything he loved.
Dr. Chandra Sankurathri, lost his wife and two children in the tragic terrorist bombing of Air India Flight 182 from Canada-London-Delhi route in 1985. After three years of working through unbearable grief while employed as a government scientist in Ottawa, Dr. Chandra decided that he needed to “do something useful”.
Recovering from his personal tragedy, he devoted his life to providing eye care to the blind in his native place, Kakinada. His eye hospital’s team has performed more than 137,000 cataract surgeries since 1993 — most for free.
