Why are we stepping back from GM crops while this technology is almost used in every food and seeds available in the United States, if the FDA in the US has allowed it then why are we depriving the Indian farmers of this technology.

There is a growing resistance to GM crops in the US. Europe & Australia mandate labelling. Yielding to pressure Whole Foods will start labelling foods containing GMO soon.
GM technology has been introduced in the form of Bt Cotton in India with a disastrous effect on the farmers. 300,000 cotton farmers have committed suicide between 1997 to 2007.
